American Professional Agency, Inc. began operations in 1940 at its headquarters in New York City. In 1972, APA Inc. moved its offices to its present location. Focusing on professional liability insurance with special emphasis in the mental health field, APA Inc. has grown to be the largest writer of mental health professional liability insurance in the United States. With approximately 100,000 policyholders, APA Inc. ranks in the top 100 insurance brokerages in the country.

APA, Inc. maintains a staff of over 65 people who have been cross-trained in each department. Our state of the art computer system is constantly upgraded to meet the needs of our clients and we use the most comprehensive software programs in the agency field which has been developed by us over the last 40 years.

is Chairman of the Board. Rick began his career over 40 years ago with American Professional Agency, Inc after spending several years with CIGNA. Rick joined APA Inc. and has been the driving force behind its success. Rick has led the firm to become nationally recognized as the prominent writer of mental health professional liability insurance in the country. He has been a frequent guest speaker throughout the country and is considered one of the foremost experts on mental health professional liability insurance.

Peter T. Imbert

is  President. Peter joined American Professional Agency, Inc. in 1991. Before joining APA, Peter served as Vice President of Reliance National Insurance Company for 4 years in charge of underwriting for various professional liability coverages. Prior to this, he was Vice President in charge of making financial products for Alexander & Alexander. Peter began his career in 1981 at National Union Fire Insurance Co., a member company of American International Group as an underwriter of Directors & Officers Liability Insurance and variations thereof..
